STOKR S.A. is excited to partner with Utopia Genesis Foundation to tokenize music rights for the global investors. By tokenizing high-quality music rights, Utopia and STOKR will create an opportunity for investors to participate in the growth potential of the entertainment industry.
Music rights have already been positioned as an uncorrelated alternative investment, capable of providing a lucrative investment return. By tokenizing music rights, both institutional and retail investors will be able to monetize their investments with a higher level of transparency. Tokenized music rights will reflect royalty rights for both existing and new music in a digital format.
Utopia Genesis Foundation was formed to support the development of the Utopia Open Platform for the music industry. The Utopia Open Platform is designed on a purpose-built blockchain which utilises the PoA (Proof of Authority) consensus protocol, using a number of decentralized validators. The Utopia Open Platform will launch with the Genesis Application, which will allow for micro co-ownerships of music projects - as it enables the artists and owners of the music to sell a share of their work’s revenue stream to the community. Genesis Application will be the first of its kind to allow artists to tokenize their music rights and interact with fans and investors to finance their projects. Genesis Application will be a gateway to the financial rights of the music world.
STOKR is a primary issuance platform for digital securities, also known as security tokens. STOKR currently supports the issuance of security tokens for small and medium sized businesses, as well as innovative project financing. On the STOKR digital marketplace, companies can tokenize their equity or debt instrument and raise investments from investors. With more than 70 Mil Euro worth of tokenized assets, STOKR is a prominent player in the European market, providing support in the issuance of security tokens to companies like Infinite Fleet and ArtID. Currently, STOKR supports the issuance of security tokens on the Ethereum, Blockstream AMP (earlier Liquid Network) and Algorand. With this partnership, STOKR will enable the issuance of security tokens which will represent financial interest in music royalties on the new blockchain, Utopia Open Platform.
Tokenized music rights provide meaningful risk-adjustment returns and produce predictable growth. Utopia Music Platform, directly integrated with the Utopia Open Platform, will enable access to such growth data which will provide a unique access to the investors to analyse the risk-return scenario.
“Integrating with STOKR will allow us to deliver the first open platform and marketplace for tokenizing music rights and assets,” said Thomas Contin, President of The Utopia Genesis Foundation. “Through the Genesis Application, the process of creation and ownership is democratized in ways that would only be possible by fusing blockchain technologies with big data and AI. Achieving this marks a major milestone for us as we prepare for the launch of the Genesis Application marketplace.”
The entertainment streaming economy is quite insulated from the wider economy, even during the time of the global self-isolation mandate. The successful IPO of Warner Music Group in 2020 showed that investors do have confidence in the music industry, particularly the digitally driven modern copyright acquisition marketplace.
"Investments in the music industry are restricted to a handful of entities and investors. The tokenization of music rights will enable a wider investor community to invest in this alternative asset class. With Utopia Genesis Foundation as a partner, we believe that we will be able to bring tokenized music rights of a blue chip category. We’re thrilled to say that we are bridging the gap between the music industry and the capital markets" - Arnab Naskar, Co-founder and Business Lead at STOKR.
The Utopia Genesis Foundation was founded with a mission to establish an open and standardized process for the music industry to track, process and tokenize rights. By introducing a universal blockchain protocol for anyone who wants to run commercial projects in the modern music industry, the Foundation aims to provide the infrastructure, tools and funding needed for the development, maintenance and growth of the ecosystem.
